Christchurch Rifle Club

The Christchurch Rifle Club is a small but dedicated club of enthusiastic shooters who regularly meet (during the competition season) on a weekly basis to shoot distances out to 1000yrds. The club utilises a local 1000 yard range with shooting mounds that start at 300 yards and work back to 1000 yards.

The Christchurch Rifle Club is always keen to help shooters new to the sport.

For those new shooters or people interested in joining the Club who are put off by not having a suitable rifle, don’t be. The Club has its own club rifle, rests and customised ammunition. A small range fee and ammunition cost is charged to recover costs of the ammunition.

People are more than welcome to use their own rifles HOWEVER YOU NEED (must!) to contact the club first first to ensure that their rifle meets basic requirements, such as calibre and accuracy. Rifles must be able to shoot less than an inch (max) group at 100 meters. Again a small range fee is associated.

If you have any questions or are interested in the club please contact any of the names listed below.

hi is a gun licence required to become a member?

  3. Mark says:

    Hi there

No, you don’t require a firearms licence, however if you really want to take up the sport you will need to get one, and one day a rifle suitable for the ranges we shoot. But we can help with that a bit!

You are more than welcome to come down to the range and have a go under one on one supervision of a licensed club member. In the mean time, we can help guide you in the right direction to get started. There is a small charge to cover the cost of ammunition. Hope this helps.

    Cheers Mark

The Christchurch Rifle Club range is on private land, its farm land and we shoot specific days and hours, due to stock as is a working farm, it would pay to give Andrew a call and have a yarn to him, we only shoot club days which are Saturdays. The range is not open any other time. I am about to put a tentative list of dates and ranges we are shooting up on the site. We shoot starting at 300yrds then in progressive weeks out to 1000yrds. Hence one of the reasons we need to ensure the rifle that you bring is able to shoot sub MOA. Otherwise you can use the club rifle, but again would pay and call Andrew to ensure he brings the rifle if its required as well as the ammunition loaded for that rifle.
